01The challenge

Give a festival crowd a reason to play with Afrikaans. Boards and posters carry South African moments that have no Afrikaans word yet, and the crowd invents one.

02The approach

  1. 01

    Lente Bingo

A poster and board system built around Lente Bingo, a collecting mechanic. Doop Dit, Steel en Verbeter, Raai die Woord, Foto-Doop, Stem and Wildcard keep people inventing, voting and improving words.

  2. 02

    Two winners

The top word before the campaign becomes a performed song. The top word on festival day becomes Woord van Lentedag.

  3. 03

    Lente Book

The living dictionary where every word is kept. Its name cycles the word for “book” through Gauteng's four most-spoken languages. I built it.
